wats anchoring? is it when u put ur thumb over the guitar?

ummm? well by 'ur hand below the strings' do u mean the thumb on the back of the neck or the whole hand on the back of the neck and the thumb over the neck

cos if its the 2nd i can hardly do any notes with my thumb over the neck of the guitar, i mean my fingers just wont move as naturally, but i see tons of people doin it in videos and shit
