i play like john frusciante, omar rodriguez, satch, steve vai type leads and lots of blues licks. i'm not really a metal player, but i dabble with friends hah. alot of my riffs are high gain based with some shecka and djent lollllll, but im not trying to get a super metal amp. i also play lead in a punk-ish band. i'm just looking for a good amount of versatility and a reliable head that i'll feel comfortable with for a long time, as i'm pretty broke.

in short: decent-good cleans & and decent-good gain, reliable, 500-1000 $ range.

if there's something with real good cleans & real good gain that any of you guys know ofr that's in my price range or a little above, please do let me know. i want something that will last a long time and make me happy. i have a shitty cab right now, but i plan on selling my rig when i can and getting either a 2x12 avatar or 4x12 avatar with v30s depending on how much i get.

yea i've tried that head at GC when i was looking for a half stack like a year ago, and while it's good for the price, i'm looking for something more long term. i'm entirely sick of using sub-par gear haha.

Edit: And for the argument about the mesa's. I was never a fan. I bought into it because a friend proclaimed them the best.

I thought they were pretty fucking dull without a ton of effects.

I bought a triple at a local shop not too long ago and disliked it enough to return it.

When I bought my diamond i was debating between this and Soldano but I dig the industrial look a bit.

I have exactly a Carvin V3 and Avatar 2x12 with v30 setup and i can get almost any tone i want. The carvin is probably your best bet in terms of versatility. The only thing on the Carvin is that it does not have built in reverb, so i suggest if you have one keep it or if you dont get it. It will help sweeten up the cleans.
