Tommy Emmanuel is the greatest guitarist alive. Shit, ask Steve Vai and he'll tell you that himself. The man knows how to put on a show.

But of course there are guys out there like Justin King, Trace Bundy and Erik Mongrain doing some incredible shit as well. Everyone knows Andy McKee from "Drifting," and Don Ross/Antoine Dufour by proxy... I'd like some of the other progressive fingerstyle acoustic players such as King, Bundy and Mongrain to get some more limelight, but knowing the taste - or rather lack thereof- of the average person, I won't hold my breath.

Shredding is for people who practiced their scales a lot. Shredding does not make one a good guitarist.

Well I disagree. If you know scales and technical theory, that would make you a good guitarist. Understanding theory is a massive plus in being an accomplished guitarist, but don't mistake that for the MAIN arguement behind a good guitarist.
