That effect is delay + reverb. The most commonly used effects in all of music. The vocals on rock songs practially always have delay + reverb on them.

Listen to John Lenon's "Imagine" and you will see what I'm talking about.
And there aren't very many songs that cover more than 1 octave in the vocals lol
