That may be what it stands for, but you're completely ignoring the evolution of the word and trying to argue from the root definition that only was applicable to e-mail clients; wherein the term "spam" was coined. On message boards spam is usually reserved for the random accounts that join to spam solicitations. Then there's people like Boghone who claim posts are spam where he doesn't agree with them, and they're purely the consequence of his own tangential conversation.
