Tube amplifiers use tubes for pre-amplification and amplification. As opposed to solid-state amplifiers that use diodes. Tube amplification provides a more natural distortion and due to the imperfect nature of the tubes it tends to create unique harmonic overtones that make it sound more full than when using solid state amplifiers.
The classic 30 runs about 650. I suggest you look for a used one, you can get them for cheaper that way.
