Uh, I think it does.

Your "opinion" was that "it's a waste of time and a totally useless tuning."

I proved otherwise, beyond a reasonable doubt. You think Jimmy Page, etc.. are useless? You've no taste, and you're wrong.

Um, just to clarify, there are times when tuning a string up is perfectly acceptable.  CGCGCE comes to mind.

However, in this case, he definitely needs to tune his low-E down a whole step to D.

Well, in the context of your statement (everyone criticizing the OP for trying to tune his low E up to D), it seemed as if this tuning required more than simply tuning one string up a semitone... I'm quite sure we all realize that there are tunings where you tune a string up a semitone or two >.<

he probably had to take a second job so he could afford more low E strings.

Its rather simple why it keeps breaking....

The notes go ABCDEFG and repeat... Your starting on your E , and trying to take it all the way to D going UP? In other words... your trying to change octaves on a string thats not designed to do so.... I don't believe any string is designed to stretch that much.

Now tuning DOWN... is just 1 step. D <-- E .... Seems much easier than E --> F --> G --> A --> B --> C -->D

Think about it.
