At Rushton and Automatica:

I know that don't worry! I was just saying, if you don't have the money to buy an interface (and FireWire is way better than USB by the way), there's still a way to record in a more proper way than with an old video camera's microphone.

Depending on your computer's integrated sound card, there's still a possible way to record "properly" without too much latency, therefore giving an ok playback.

;) Anyways, I'm not here to argue, I know you guys know your stuff.

I will eventually plug into the laptop and try it - if it works i'll post something, if it doesn't then i'll eventually do what Weasel said xD

Just bought the newest Cubase 6.5 for $400.

Anyone here use Cubase? I would very much like an internet buddy to discuss audio engineering.

An audio engineer is someone who works on recording, mixing, mastering, and producing a song.
This includes working with Dynamic effects like Compressors, Equalizers and then other effects like reverb, phaser, and all that jazz.

Just an example. And it seems mose people on this site just make dubstep stuff, which is really sad :(
Seems like that's where the world is going. Whatever happened to recording and mixing some classic blues or acoustic stuff? The music that requires talent with the hands.

Dude - i found an adapter yesterday at work, the front is a 3.5mm jack and the back of it is the same size as a guitar cable input. In theory, if I plug said adapter into my laptop, I should be able to play guitar and save it directly onto the PC as a wav / mp3 / wmv file yes?

If not - tell me what i'm missing :o

I bought a little adapter at radioshack for $2.50 and I plug it into the line in on my computer's mobo built in sound.

I use guitar rig and amplitube for guitar sounds and ampeg svx for bass.

shit is heaven.

that said my friend gave me a M-Audio USB interface that sounds better and has some mixing tools on it. But the jack adapter works fine.
