for the style i play, i find that fender rly suits my needs. I dont really find much sound i cant achieve on a fender. Though there are some things that a gibson would be much better off for

more of an ibanez man myself, but between gibson and fender,
i'll take the fender anyday!


always wanted to get a fender strat ,they feel and play really lovely only problem i have is the 3 single coil creates loud buzzing which annoys the shit outta me lol.
never ever liked gibsons tho, the fat body just aint doing it for me.

Between the two, I prefer the Gibson types. I prefer other guitars though that don't really fit with either type - 80s BC Rich guitars, and modern ESP guitars, especially the Horizon.

I have a fender mexican strat, but honestly if i had to choose between having one or the other, i wouldnt care. they are both sexy guitars

I have a Fender Jaguar but I'm looking to buy a '59 LP TV. Overall though, Fender, as this discussion comes down more to single coil vs. humbucker than anything else.

im sorry but this is pointless. niether of these brands have ONE sound. just because a lot of people use fenders for jazz doesnt make their brand jazzy. iron maiden and kirk hammet currently use fenders. a fender stratocaster is the most common punk rock guitar. if you swap the pickups on any guitar it will sound different. Fender guitars that come stock vs. gibson stock are of a much higher quality. custom is a different story. the neck on a standard gibson explorer is smaller than most fender necks. this is really apples and oranges. you cant generalize a whole brand when B.B. King uses a gibson but you call it heavy sounding...
