Now you're trying to argue that we hear overtones as strongly as the actual notes? Dude...seriously?

I didn't say that at all, and even if I did, you said the notes "don't exist," which is also wrong, although I'm probably being overly picky.

It's not wrong...an overtone is not a note...it's an overtone. Saying a note doesn't exist in a chord is not even in the same realm as the overtones that occur above the root of the chord - that's ultimately irrelevant. If an overtone were a note then playing C would be interchangeable with any note in it's overtone series (which it isn't).

Conceded, not that this has anything to do with the original point of contention.

Which is...an extended chord does not sound like a triad? Ya, we're far beyond that.

I don't think any amount of discussion is going to make either of us change their mind, and I don't really care that much, so let's just get our ad hominems in and go our seperate ways.

HEY CHRONOWARP YOUR AVATAR IS STUPID. QED, BITCH.

Hah! You just had to throw in "brah."

If that's how you feel, I'm happy for you, but I don't really care to discuss this with you any further.

So anyway, B minor substitutes....

Simplest: x20xxx
x202xx (Bm7)
64xxxx
643xxx
6x06xx
Try Maybe: x2023x
688666
xx4432

To be honest, you should really just practice the initial voicing since it's a very common chord form.

Hey ZoSo, don't try and give him a lesson on diminished principals when the guy's still working on basic chords, which by the way you're doing a terrible job at. Just answer the question at hand.

...flatten the fifth!... has nothin to do with the control of the third interval... <_<

LOL believe me, I never wanted this discussion to go in the direction it did.
