new gibson instruments are CRAP considering the pricetag. paul reed smith ftw.

gibson uses less manual labor and more machined parts than they used to. if you buy a les paul make sure it is at least 35 years old (expensive).

Anything will do you well. Even epiphone to be honest. A special is a les paul with two pickups, on a flat maple top, mahogany back, and a skinny flat 60's neck, with dots. Loud with bass overtones.
