By the way, real musicians don't worry about how others write songs. They just play what they play and enjoy what they do. I'm pretty sure that's the most important element of music.

This. If you don't even know what the word melody truly means, I doubt you can really start a debate with it.
Also, like Derkaderk said, people shouldn't worry about how others write songs, but just enjoy their musicianship to the fullest.

The most complex melodies are the best. Simple melodies = generic and dull. They are equally important to the writing process of any good music. When a band puts one before the other, you get garbage.

I agree. I get sick of simple melodies very quickly. I want to hear more than quarter note and whole notes once in a while...
