Um, just to clarify, there are times when tuning a string up is perfectly acceptable. CGCGCE comes to mind.

However, in this case, he definitely needs to tune his low-E down a whole step to D.

gah, maybe that's possible with extra light strings
don't get me wrong though, light gauge strings are great, if you want terrible tone >.<

What PSPZorZ doesn't know, and you failed to tell him, is that Open C is not tuning up on all strings.

Standard E A D G B E
– –
Open C C G C G C C
U/D d d d s u d

D= Down tune
S= Same as strandard
U= Tune up

In this particular tuning, we only tune the B string up a semi tone....
Nothing spectacular if you ask me and DEFINITELY shouldn't even be brought up
when someone is tuning their guitar UP on all strings to try and achieve a DADGAD tuning.

Point being the thread creator is a damn fool and shouldn't be playing guitar
if he is serious about the bullshit he has posted regarding tunings.

/end thread.

I don't personally use it. I think it's a waste of time and
a totally useless tuning. E Standard is what I play in mostly.

If you think open C is a useless tuning, you're a dolt.

For the record, it's CGCGCE.

It's used most often in finger-style guitar, notably by the likes of Jimmy Page in some work with Zeppelin as well as his work with Plant afterwards. It's also used more recently, by guitarists such as Jon Butler and Xavier Rudd.

I think open C is useless, because it is...

Only to me of course, cause I don't use it. Therefore rendering itself useless.

Next time you reply use your fucking head, please.

Also, my bad, typo error on my end - CGCGCE**.

You didn't refute anything bro, relax.

All you did is state a few guitar players who use it... It doesn't void my opinion.
