Some people do, some people don't. You can go either way, but if you are comfortable anchoring, there's nothing wrong with it, as long as you don't let it get in your way when you move.

That's always a tough one to explain, there isn't a single right way to do it. I would seek the help of an experience instructor or guitarist on this one.

Then you have a huge problem. If you can't hold a pick in a comfortable way, not only your sweeps but ALL your playing will be affected.

when i play normally... i can hold pick just fine..
when i sweeep...
i have to change my grip...
i cant find a comfortable grip for sweeping.

Try changing the position of your fingers a bit, see the Herman Li video posted earlier.

im sweeping just fine... pretty fast in my opinuiion but it just sounds horrible to me.
