in all honesty

XLR = 1/4 in > USB

XLR and quarter inch do exactly the same job, just 2 different methods of hooking mic up :)  now when you get into USB territory, thats when you lose quality smile.gif

eh maybe its because all XLR input systems that I've listened to are professional grade compared to the amps that I hang around all day :\

You don't need microphones to sing, much less to learn to sing. I've been singing for 9 years and still don't have a microphone lol, if I ever perform I use the stage's mics any how. Trust me, microphones will not help you in any way, unless you are looking to hear a play back of your singing (which I've just used a regular recorder for in the past).

wtf xD if you sing 9 years, it's a GOOOOD time to buy your own mic...
alll proffesionals have there own mics xD you for 9 years?! xD
and it's better to have you own mic too because the stages mics, are used by other people that may have eaten the damn thing xD

I dont really know about mics, but usually the difference is quality parts, as well as what frequencies they are responsive to. Like i said, go to the store and ask them about vocal mics.

Hey, I've been working with music for a long time bro and I can safely say that you should invest in the Shure SM58 Microphone.

It's $100, but it's worth every penny.

I Own 6 myself and they're great for the studio, live, or to mic out your gear.

Here is a link for it:

Theres really no need...I don't have a studio, so i don't need it -- if I go to gigs its usually a mess and theres no time to set up your own mic anyways.

I highly recommend the Shure SM58 for vocals.
