Well my first guitar was a Squier Telecaster, sounded good tho. But... Strings were breaking often, Jack would never stay in place and on the bridge, screws were not holding well even after tightening them. Cost me 200$CAD, not bad but lasted a Year.Then I bought my Jackson with EMGs and been using it for 3 years.
If you know that you will not give up, get a standard Strat or if you are more into metal, get a guitar like a Ibanez with Humbuckers instead of single coils.
