Ernie Ball strings are terrible imo..I started out using those and didn't realized how bad they were until I switched to Dean Markleys.

i personally love d'addario. I've got some on my acoustic, and im getting another set or 2 as backups for my other acoustic.
Are you sure you don't just have awful tuners?
