My opinion's a bit irrelevant here since I primarily play bass... but... SDs all the way, only pups I use.

Duncans = Experienced musicians who value tone.

EMGS = Kids who just picked up a guitar and think they know anything about good heavy metal tonality.

If your just starting out, you won't be able to tell the difference tone-wise very much, but if you have trained ears like me, you'll know duncans are infinitely superior.

No, just no.

Thats the biggest load of bollocks i've ever heard lol. Pickups suit YOUR tone. EMG's suit certain players, and Duncans suit certain players. Don't say that you can generalise who uses certain pickups, thats just a stupid statement.

Duncans,

so superior to EMGs that even bass players choose them.

Duncan Blackouts are very nice, EMGs are pretty good for heavy downtuning though, they don't offer as much of a crunch tone as some other pickups, but they don't sound muddy on a low A.

I personally love the Dimarzio X2N and ToneZone, they are both amazing pickups.
