I give to you my latest addition to the collection - an all original parts 1963 Fender Mustang USA Made - Sally.

She came through work about 5 months ago, after sitting in a garage for 15~ years, dust ridden, strings rusted, paint on the fretboard and dents to the body. I paid £81 for this guitar, and have had it priced at £1100++, and in the next 10 years it's value is going to leap up as it will then be a 50 year (half century) old original parts USA Mustang, music history!

There was a problem though, the electronics didn't work and I couldn't get any sound of out it, turned out one of the switches had gone and needed replacing, with a white one instead of a black one. Other than that - all original baby ;)

And here are all my babies together <3

Left to right -

Emilie, Sally, Charlie, Hollie and Ibby (gf picked the name, it's techincally hers!)

Dang, thats sexy dude. I've never really been a fan of the fender feel though. I haven't really played a fender I really liked, But i haven't played too many Fenders anyway. That Gibson SG looks sexy too.

I've read about the Gibson SG's and I've read about Tony Iommi and how he got the tips of his fingers cut off. So he switched to using Gibson SG's because the neck of them was more spread out than other electric guitars so it was easier for him to play. Is it a really noticable difference in the string spread between typical electrics and the SG?

Yeah - perfect example is in the pic above. The Fender Telecaster has very finely spaced strings, so you can get some serious alternate picking going on, and the Ibanez has the strings really spread out, bit more so than the SG so it's a different feel of guitar. However, as far as feel goes, the Gibson > all.

I used to hate Fender, mainly because of the Fender Strat being the only guitar people recognised, and the colours they have are just awful alot of the time. However, since i've had my Gibson i've started to appreciate fender, hence my 2 :D

I've heard Gibson and Epiphone are the same company and they make their guitars the same. I've also heard that the Gibson Les Paul is the same exact thing as the Epiphone Les Paul. Do you know if this is true or do you have any info on this?

Gibson is the big daddy company - it makes the money, it has the reputation.

Epiphone is the daughter of Gibson, but without the price tag and quality. Much like the saying once you go black you never go back, I went from a Stagg to Gibson so Epiphone is a no no for me. I don't like them, it's much more worthwhile to save for a Gibson because it's so fuckin worth it.

I just plain don't like Epiphone, the ONLY one I would EVER purchase would be a Bullseye Zakk Wylde LP.

Btw just to save embaressment for the future, don't ever say that Gibson Les Paul and Epiphone Les Paul are the same - some people might slap you :o

No, I was never saying that. I was just asking if they were. Because I've heard people say Epiphone and Gibson guitars are the same exact thing except with a different name on it.

I personally never thought this was true. Just doesn't make sense for a guitar to go from $600 to $2000-3000 by just the name.. Just makes no sense to me but I was just curious on another opinion.

They aren't the exact same thing. You know who says that? Those who can't afford a Gibson and are happy enough with Epiphone. That doesn't mean there's no difference between them.

Best way to test this theory is to go and play one. Same model of Les Paul, but play the Epiphone, then the Gibson. You'll notice the difference and like the Gibson more guaranteed

Ya I figured this much. I've just never played them side by side. Actually I don't even think i've played a les paul.
