Bold claim from a 12 year old with down syndrome.

Reduced to what? Do you have a better suggestion for how I respond to posts like "You're an idiot"? Hah. Let me know.

Of course he was.

No I'm hating on the music elitists who are commonly music majors and frequently argue the "legitimacy" of music. Apparently, the majority of them like jazz.

Sound familiar, funnyman?

No, not really. It's funny because Jazz wasn't even an academically viable musical option until about the 1970's...and even then most universities didn't offer it as a degree option for performance or study. It's increased over time, but uhm, ya, most music programs are focused around a Classical curriculum, and Jazz in an academic setting is only half of the picture, and since it's such an all encompassing genre of music it's hard to be elitist about it.

So, basically, most music majors receive an education primarily in Classical theory/history...and most music performance majors are performing a Classical repertoire.

I'm aware. Thanks. I don't think I ever said they teach Jazz in school.

"music elitists who are commonly music majors"

why would a classic musician be an elitist and favor jazz? lol

That sentence doesn't even refer to jazz.

I thought you were smart.

Yes, Joe Pass is lightyears ahead pretty much everyone posted ITT in terms of musicality.  He can actually play fast while combating extremely complex changes, rather than regurgitating 3nps patterns over diatonic horseshit, and is just musical in general.  He is a guitar virtuoso, period.  Practicing scale patterns does not even make you good at guitar, let alone a virtuoso.  Grow up musically.

You attacking my guitar playing? When did I say i practised scale patterns?

And JP = Petrucci.

And you think Joe Pass is skilled? He might be, but you are making him sound like he's Les Paul or something, and that is just foolish.

Classical musicians liking jazz...does not compute...statement makes no sense...
