My dad just got a Fender acoustic but its a Christmas present so I havent seen or played it yet. It was only around $300 but everything I have heard says its a great guitar that rivals some of the much more expensive guitars (like in the $1000 range).
Id I get a chance to play it tomorrow ill let you know.

its honestly personal preference, and mostly due to strings. A small size string, I.E. size 10, will be easier on your fingers but the tone will be slightly lacking while a size 13 will be rough on your fingers but have great tone.

Some people swear that different woods carry different characteristics and sound differently but its up to you to formulate your own opinion. I'd say just go to your local shop and play a lot of guitars, whichever feels the best

is the one you should get.
