I agree that for a starter/entry level guitar, the Dot is superior to most - so I guess thats a recommended then,.

wtf - tell me where this bin is!

Montreal: L'escobar, was 3 years ago. I don't know why it was tossed there but I was walking down the street and I saw someone throwing in the dumbster what looked to me like a broken guitar. Out of curiosity I went there and tadaaaaa. :) Checked with serial number and it's a 1992..
Was pretty happy and since that day I wish someone throws in a fucking old guitar that I can sell for a lot :P

Ibanez all good - but don't say Gibsons have become shite, thats rubbish lol. They still maintain a higher quality than 90% of the other brands <_<

You do know they're getting sued over use of poor wood. Not to mention they still can't paint a guitar without their being chips at the nut. They've almost always had poor construction but they always relied on "classic" design and descent materials. Well, the design imo was never really good. It was desgned by a 5',1" dwarf. That's why you cant sit and play a LP or SG with out it feeling like your arms are too long. And now that they're not even using quality spec wood, what do they have?

Gibson has been a well marketed guitar for decades but it has never really been high end, despite it's higher price tags.

Woah - Was NOT expecting that level of hatred for a Gibson.

If you have played a Gibson - you KNOW why it has the price tag, you KNOW it's top of the range - you can just feel it in the neck, in the weight, the balance - and the sound.

i'm actually with super on this one. gibsons aren't bad guitars, but i don't ever feel like the price is proportionate to the quality of the guitar. if i had an infinite budget, i might wind up with a gibson, but i feel like at equal prices, gibsons are usually outclassed.

well its all about what your willing to pay for it
fenders arent cheap too and if you dont want to play a piece of shit you have to pay for it.
when i started to get interested into geetahrs n stuff i thought everything would be cheaper..

ive payed for my (now) gear something like 1700 € for a small equip thats gotta handle a band.. thought.
well ive made a add of 450€ with selling and buying stuff

back ontopic:

id say just try out the things you would like to get used to.
if a 500 bucks guitar is just much better than the epiphone dot. than save up for it.
try around and get the thing you would like to have dont look too much on prices.
(im a student)

what about pics of the telecaster?
my birthdate is 1992. i thought about getting a guitar with that one too.
would be pretty cool tho
