im thinking to take a lesson on music theory

This would serve a much better purpose than guitar lessons.

Learning guitar is all about knowing what you have to do and the time you're willing to put to get better at it.

Music theory isn't instrument related. You learn about music in general. It'll help you understand and break down songs you're trying to learn and also be alot more organized if you plan on composing.

for most of the beginners, i know first thing in mind is to get proper guitar lessons, but for me if you have the instrument (guitar) with determination to learn, you'll learn even by yourself, especially nowadays where you can easily grab a copy of music chords and how it is being executed....you just have to make it everyday so you'll get used to it...

If you are considering to actually know something about music (and its theory), consider taking some lessons.
If you are being less serious, and just intrested in playing Guns 'n Roses riffs, then the allmighty Internet and all its unprofessional youtube-guitarists are decent enough friends for you.
Im not saying that either would be better or worse. Just consider what goals you want to achieve, and how much are you willing to work and what you have to do in order to achieve 'em.

I took lessons for five years weekly, and nowdays I play and teach for my profession. No regrets here :P

This isn't 100% true. Many great musicians never took formal lessons.

Only lessons I'd ever take are music theory.

Thank you for pointing out what exactly is not. ;)

But anyways, there is no absolute facts, so thank you for pointing out the obvious. No offense tho.
