I think it means hold the note until you play the next one. Obviously this is all finger picked stuff, so chances are it means keep like your index finger on the 2nd fret and keep the note ringing while using your pinky/3rd finger to play the next few notes.

Think of it like a Piano.

I believe it is a "tied note", because on Guitar Pro, when you press the "L" button, it's a shortcut key to tie a note.

Which results in what? A lingering note with another note over the top? Or like a hammer/pulloff?

it's a lingering note on gp, HO/PO are different

i think a tie is the most likely meaning for it in this tab

i may try to play it, its fingerpicked i assume. i think if u have a copy of the song or someone playing it on youtube it might make it easier
