i've been playing for about a year, just jumped straight into learning songs though.

i think i'll take some advice here too and learn the scales

i started with the A major scale or whatever yesterday and worked on it for like 30 minutes, so should we just keep at it until we can do it perfectly every time without looking?

The aim is to be able to not only play 5-10 different scales, but incorporate them into your playing. The best players can mix a great rhythm section with excellent lead parts, and never break "stride" if you get me.
