That's a vocal mic - looks more like an SM58

Reason the snare sounds the way it does is first because you're using a vocal mic and also that it's mounted very close to the head. IMO it should be a little bit farther away and pointed at the middle of the drum head.

Nope dude, it's Shure Sm57 :D http://www.thomann.de/fi/shure_sm57_lc.htm

Yea, it's a bit too close to the head, agree.

Is that snare trigger'd?
Can't see the trigger itself, but the sounds never change eh.
We'll done.

He could have mic'd it to use it for hearing himself (in a P.A.) and use the trigger signal to make the video (edit, etc.)
Usually a mic snare sound abit different from each hit, or atleast some of them.

If he had it triggered a mic would be pointless. He would just run the trigger sound to whatever device he had around for projection.

Some trigger's brain have only 1 out, so if he had the sound in his ears, maybe he couldn't have pass it threw a speaker/mixer.
And then use the mic'd signal in the PA for general purpose (a.k.a. jamming with people, etc.)

I was just surprise to hear 100% accurate hit (same sound), usually we can hear a little sound difference between hits when it's only mic'd.
