there are plenty more than 2 levels of spectors.
to the original poster:
you can always get big name bass brands' lower echelon names for under 500. (i.e warwick rockbass, musicman SMX or whatever it's called.) I would advise highly against it, though. you pay for the novelty, not the quality.
low end spectors are still great basses, and they look super cool. it's what i would recommend to you. if there is no serial number on the back of the headstock, that is VERY fishy.
Yeah the auction ended and I ended up dodging it. It seemed too fishy to me. Sure, he bought it from MUSICIANSFRIEND and had a receipt, but that website itself is a big shit hole
he claims there was a sticker on the back of the headstock, and that he 'tore it off'
But *EVERY* single other spector I looked at had a big ass black STAMP, not sticker, on the back, saying SSD licensed product.
I am definitely looking at schecters again, though it's tough to figure out which one I want. I only really tried the elite and studio versions of the stiletto at GC and they both played amazing....just the price tags were 600+, lol.
I tried the diamond-P bass and it sounded like shit, but maybe it was just the way theirs was set up
I really liked the feel of the sterlings, but again, it is that lower echelon of another big brand like my squier is.
