The kit shouldn't come with a bass pedal... and if it does it's gonna be a really bad one, so expect that pedal to break eventually...

It doesnt matter whats wrong with a broken electronic drum, you can have the drum working again in 5 minutes, so thats not broken in my opinion... If the pad is broken you can actually take the electronics and attach them to anything you want... How about an electronic drum which is literally a used drumstick... I even made a trigger out of a Parsnip once...
