Why? 16 is late compared to many.

Superlative is referring to his personal opinion about Herman Li's skills, not his starting age.

No, he is not an idiot because he has an opinion. Allthough the way he puts it out makes him look like a douchebag.
I dont like Li's playing either.

You don't have to like his playing but there's no denying he's a REALLY good player. I was just going for a example of someone who started reasonably late and got to the top

That is correct, that was kind of my point too.

right now i feel pretty comfortable on the guitar and my fingers are gettin stronger so its really fun to play and i think that i could be good if i keep going

thanks

You can start at any age - but you have to dedicate time to it. People don't realise that the key to becoming good at anything, be it sport, games or instruments is playing often.

You've been playing for a year, thats good. It means you've got beyond the beginner/n00b stage and now have a fundamental understanding of the instrument.

The next step is to find the level you are at so you know what your main aims should be. I personally recommend the Grade books.

Most people in here will disagree, and thats cool (they are not that important) but I used them to find out what grade I was playing it. 2 years ago, i realised I could do the majority of grade 7 stuff (with a couple of weeks practise).

Typically, its better to start at an earlier age because its easier to adapt to new experiences. Its certainly possible but like any skill, you gotta practice. Kind of like learning a new language. :D

Let's ask the question to yourself.

Try to think of some reasons why you think it would be too late?

People play music all their lives.
Some people started @ the age of 12 and never played in a band or never want to.
Playing live is more then being talented and play good: you have to get your ass discovered, that's the hardest part.

+ Music is a way to express yourself. Every1 on his own way. music is excellent for it and not for just now but till the day u die
