Takamine make some very nice acoustics. You were definitely smart going used. You got a lot more guitar for your money that way... a new guitar in the price range would have been pretty horrible.

For $200 you can get an Encore electro/acoustic.

I've had mine for 10 years and I will never get rid of it. Mine has a curved body, a pickup with volume/tone and has a slender neck which is excellent for playing faster rhythm songs (i find).

Try them out - and don't shun them. Encore are a solid make of acoustic (the electrics for the most part suck more cock than Ms Jameson)
