It's really not that important. Bigger strings are going to be harder to bend/vibrato, but the overall sound will be a bit beefier. I have been playing for a long time, but haven't found a real discernible difference between brands. Currently I play .10 DR's that are bottom heavy.

Just experiment and find something that works for you.
