I built my speed using the monochromatic scale.

Start on your 6th string ,play the frets 1-4 , plucking each ntoe once , and than go back down the strings doing the same thing.

than pluck each note twice , going up and than back down.

alternate this method until your playing it clean and at a speed you like.

( alternate your picking btw )

ty i like this
im doing it now

Don't ever bother trying to build speed, it's a waste of time. Just play for awhile and it comes naturally.

A great song to work on your alternate picking / and speed depending your current progress would be Waking The Demon - Bullet for my Valentine.

And another suggest to build speed , you should use TuxGuitar ( google it. ). Download the gp5 file for the song you like ( i suggest using ultimate-guitar.com ) , and change how fast the song is played. Start slow ( or at a pace you can play it flawlessly ) play it no less than 20 times. ( I Personally play each section I'm having trouble with no less than 30 times. )

Gradually increase the speed of the section until your playing it up to par.

I'm currently in the process of getting the speed up for end of the Crazy Train solo , I can honestly say I played that section well over 300 times at various speeds... and I'm not only about 20 BPS away from the correct speed.

It is important that you ONLY increase the speed once you feel comfortable playing the piece. You will sound far better while playing within your capabilities than trying to stretch them. But always try to challenge yourself.

For some reason I cannot edit my previous post... Edit link is broken or something...

So...

Note: TuxGuitar can play Guitar Pro files... so when on Ultimate-Guitar , find the highest rated / most voted upon .gp5 file so you learn the most accurate way.

Also... alot of times , tabs on that site aren't always accurate... but they'll get you playing.

The problem with the current generation of guitarists is, all they want is speed. They practice being super fast and they have horrible tone. Instead of a precise and controlled picking motion, they're just rapidly move their wrist to hit as many notes as possible. I'm not saying this is you, all I'm saying is, don't get so caught up with fast playing that you fail as a guitarist. Try practicing the songs you want to learn at half speed (or slower if it is still too fast)... develop your tone, work and make every note sound clearly and you can slowly build up tempo over time.

I can't quote either -.- Wtf..

Anyways... You don't have to like the song, I personally don't like the "song". But I can appreciate good guitar in any music. The guitar in the song is pretty damn cool imo.

But Idk what genres you like etc... So I won't recommend anymore songs lol.
