i take my previous statement back. The mt-2 is known as shit in a box.

Is that " Metalzone ' or whatever it's called? If so, I own that pedal, and it is by far the worst tone I've ever heard...

idk what you guys are talkin about. ive used the mt-2 for years and i love that pedal. what amps are you using? ive used it on a fender champ (tube) and a marshal MKII half stack (tube) and with a little tweaking i can get a lot of variety with my distortion.

Seeing as you're playing Nirvana, I'm going to assume you're a beginner or just don't play much difficult stuff. But if you're looking for a Nirvana
sound I wouldn't recommend this pedal, but if you're just looking for an all around pedal (don't expect epic sound and tone though, this will cost you more)
then I would recommend the BOSS MT-2 Metalzone.

I beleive kurt cobain used a DS-1. But like i said, dont try to emulate sounds of other artists. Go to the store, try out some pedals and decide the one you like best.

IMO: Bad gear to stay away from.

Most Boss pedals of current production are sub-par to their competitors in the same price range. Their name just gives them prestige.
Marshall MG
Fender Frontman
Line 6 Spider

The argument against all of these is that there are much better alternatives for the price. Not that they sound so bad that my ears will bleed. But that for the same price and maybe a little bit more research you could have invested in something that will last for much longer and that you will be trully satisfied with.

If you are using a cheap guitar through a cheap amp a pedal will not make your tone much better. I have a feeling your marshall and fender are the above mentioned MG and Frontman series. So dont waste your money on a pedal. Save up and get something more usefull like a Peavy Vypyr or a Roland Cube. Or maybe step up to a tube amp.

My brother got the right handed guitar like starter package from Fender. So his amp was default I got my left handed strat from Guitar Hero for like $225, and my amp for like $85 bucks.
