I know it's Herman Li, and I know the raged bitches on this forum are gonna bitch, but watch how he used to learn sweeping. I'm 100% serious, if you follow what he does and do it the way he does, you will nail sweeping in a week no problem.

nothing that hasnt been said before. Just do it slowly with a metronome. Like really slowly at 70-80 bpm

Herman Li is horrible at sweeping. He is trying to teach you to sweep in the style of the 12 year old kids that you see playing at guitar center.

The basics are:
-Your fretting hand will gradually acquire a "rolling" motion.
-You are sweeping your pick across the strings, not picking each note.
-Pause your picking hand while you hammer on a note unless you are aiming for uneven notes (not common)

I found this video very useful for learning sweeps, Kris Norris' DVDs overall are great if you like his style of playing.
