Which band are those settings referring to?

Bumblefoot 1 refers to Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, FFAF refers to Funeral For a Friend.
Most of the tones that are supposed to be heavier end up sound really muddy with no crunch, and the high end doesn't cut through at all.

I meant- Was that tone referring to a Protest The Hero tone or a Between The Buried And Me tone?

Pretty much only the the somewhat crunchy quality of BTBAM's tone, but not the sweet quality - you won't get any sort of rich, sweet tone from the amp in my experience. I haven't really aimed for those two band's tones, but those two are probably the best for what you're doing.

Thanks. I'll go and try it.

Ask for the receit and deal with the crate. Then buy a real amp later.

It seems I get told the same thing regardless of what amp I buy. Am I going to be told this when I get my Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier?

You'd be better off with ENGL if you're spending that much...

The Line 6 Spider III Series have been pushed really hard by chain stores, and they greatly underperform. They have the claim of having tones based off of a lot of expensive amps, designed by tons of artists, but they sound like junk in general. The electronic presets get in the way of using it simply, and the tones that you can get straight sound bad even for a solid state amp.

I paid $249 for my Peavey Special 212 used, best tone out of a solid state amp I have ever heard, and amazing overall. The salesman tried to sell me a Line 6 Spider III 75w, lower powered, for 300, pretty amusing.

As for the OP... BTBAM's two guitarists both play PRS custom 24's through Dual Rectifiers. You will never get a tone in any way similar to theirs through the spider, regardless of what guitar you're playing. I'm pretty sure the guys from PTH play Ibanez, but I'm not sure about their amps. Either way, you will need to upgrade your amp to get a tone that would be in any way similar.
