the end of it fits onto your tuner handles and its got a handle that spins
almost every guitar store has them at the counter usually
and no i dont have a model for ya
but what i would do is go to a guitar store they out as many guitars as possible
and just buy it
or look it up on eeebay if its a lil too expensive and you could get it for cheaper
a good beginner amp may be Fender or Peavey or maybe a lil Behringer
and just get any chord that looks good
except try to get a strong chord

alritey thanks for the help :)

i'll start looking some stuff up

Billy talent, metallica... hmmm.
Consider going heavier or not? If not, like weasle said, Ibanez are great, also consider Fender (Squier) and maybe ESP (LTD).

Also for the amp, try getting a Roland Cube or maybe something in peavey's branch.
Do NOT get a line 6 spyder, whatever the fucking salesman tells you, do NOT buy that.

$400 hm?

Or you could always go with the http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Peavey-Vypyr-15-15W-1x8-Guitar-Combo-Amp?sku=482908 and grab a pedal, accessories and such.

i have been told Gibson Les Paul is the exact same sa Epiphone Les Paul
because they are the same company
and ppl just overpay for a guitar because of the Gibson name

Hmm ok yeah I see. Well it's hard to find a good guitar+amp combo under 400 CDN unless you wanna aim for a starter pack, but yeah... Those aren't really worth it. If you buy them seperate, your guitar could last atleast 3+ years and the amp even more if it's just for bedroom practices.

But yeah, Ibanez would be your best bet since you're wanting to play rock/metal and such, and they are really good for blues/jazz and other stuff. Anyways, check out musiciansfriend, shop a bit and such.

Keep my idea in mind, I'm pretty sure many guitarists here (Which will surely post later) will agree on the choice or maybe suggest you another guitar, but a Peavey Vypyr is an awesome amp.

I suggest an Epiphone Les Paul Standard.
I started with that and I dont regret it at all. It's way more versatile than a strat so you have many more options on which way you might want to go.

Edit:

They are not even close lol.
I had an epiphone les paul standard, epiphone les paul custom, a gibson les paul studio, a gibson les paul standard, and a gibson les paul custom.

The more money you spend the better when it comes to epiphone and gibson.
They're all great guitars though. Just buy what suits you best.
I wouldn't suggest getting the epiphone special, I wouldn't go cheaper than the standard.

Edit: Cheaper ibanez's are very unreliable and don't hold their value well. I'm personally not a fan, but they're more expensive stuff is pretty good.

I have a fender strat with these pickups http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0992115000 exelent pickups for all kind of music. I also use 010 size strings instead of 09. You will get much better sound with strings like that. Ofcourse 09 is a little easyer to play with, but if you practice enough you can play very fast on 010 too=)

damn.. everyone is saying different things ..

this is so confusing :(

hmm.. maybe i could even buy a new guitar for like $300, and get a used amp for like a hundred bucks?

does new/used make a difference for amps?
