if you shop around on eeebay or craig's list you could most definitely find a used american tele for around $500, but if not, a new mexican one is around $400. i personally have a 20 year old mexican one that is real haggard looking with lots of upgrades, but it plays great.

i saw one in my local music store for around 400 its the cheapest guitar there the store owner said something like its not "in" right now
so in the next few weeks im gona go test it out there

I have never seen a telecaster with a ''bending pole''/arm or whatever it's called. Don't know how you play, but i use the bending pole alot(i have a fender strat, very good quality a nice blues guitar)
Anyway, if you want a blues guitar with a pole you should get a nice fender stratocaster.
I have never tryed a telecaster, but i'm sure they are very nice guitars too=)

Pro's - Good fender quality

Con's - they are ulgy

I happen to think my Fender is beautiful.
I love this guitar. The neck is thin, and incredibly fast. These particular pickups are excellent aswell, great sustain and picks up pinch harmonics very well indeed.
Guitar is light, very smooth, is very comfortable to both sit and stand with, and there are a variety of sexy colours available (aswell as really ugly ones)

However, the 2 bad points of this guitar are the lack of a whammy bar and a locking trem.

But, 8/10 is my rating for it. I'm running 52's btw

As long as you're not expecting to play rock, or get a nice meaty power chord, I'd say go for it. I love tele's but they arn't very versatile, they are very bright sounding.

A telecaster will maybe give you a very uniqe sound if you play blues on it because very few people use a tele to play blues.
I think it could be really cool.
Here is a video of a guy who use a telecaster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQQIT4SJHpY he don't exactly play blues, but maybe you will find it useful.
You don't need a ''whammy bar'' (lol) to play awsome music=)
