I can't really spend that much on a guitar atm got to save up for bigger stuff, my band is on hiatus anyway for the time being and I can come back and pick up better gear once I get everything settled in.
Would have been fine but my bro pawned his old guitar and amp that I used.

Shecters are definitely awesome guitars. I would recommend a nice ibanez as well -- I would personally spend about 150 on the amp at most, keep 350 for the guitar dude.

my first amp guitar combo was my favorite and i havent been able to reproduce it since it got jacked in september 1998: fender deluxe 12" combo and gibson firebrand.

my current electric setup: gibson les paul studio ('94ish) and vintage edition crate 12" tube amp ('96ish).

anyways both my amps are worth recommending to a new player and not too expensive used -$250-350 i think?

What kind of music do you play?

The schecter C-1 is a pretty decent guitar for the price.

So are some of the lower end prs's and there are some decent epiphones in the price range as well.

Don't forget about the used market either.

Schecter is the only guitar company @ the market right now selling good low-end guitars. The schecter c-1 plays like other brands high end ( 700-1000 ) Models.

I myself own two schecters, a c-1 classic, and a c-1 hellraiser FR. Awesome guitars.

The only thing I hate about schecter is their necks for metal compared to Jackson/Charvel, Ibanez, and ESP

Wrong.

Agile/SX probably has the best low enders.

I agree, some guys on HC have had problems with some of the agile interceptors though.

They used to have a really sexy baritone 7 string on there that I was checking out for a while.

Sick prices too.

Edit: I would rock the hell out of this one.. wish the had the green one with a fixed bridge. biggrin.gif

For your price range, I'd have to recommend an ESP or Schecter.

As for amps, if its just for practice, buy a $100-150 one, possibly a Marshall for starters.

Peavey and Roland may be better choices, but I'm trying to stick with your money sad.gif

OOoohhh, shiny

and as a general tip, spend at LEAST as much on your amp as guitar, arguably its more important for your tone than the guitar.
