I don't think Wooten is the best ever, but I'm definitely down with his talent.

im not speaking about technical ability, im talking about a mixture of all aspects.

There's obviously no way to determine who the best bassist is, due to the variation of styles. There's all sorts of guys playing ERB's. They aren't playing anything like the music victor is playing, but they are just as good at their style.

Check out Yves Carbonne, his music is incredible. 7-string fretless basses FTW.

There's also michael manring, jaco, and every other bass legend that I don't feel like listing.

Just jam and improvise with the drum. Don't bother listening to the bass line tongue.gif

because of course electric bassists aren't assosciated with rhythm at all...THAT WOULD BE CRASSY

well if ur talkin that u play the guitar then the drum should follow u..
what he needs to do is let u do the jamming and he should come in under u and follow what ur doin
if u lay down a heavy jam then he should have a good enough time beatin on it

since when did guitarists become so rhythmically deficient that they require their bandmates to follow them

TS, jamming with them and trying different things out is probably a good way to start, experiment with interesting rhythms that compliment their respective parts, there are lots of rhythmic techniques that add tonnes of flavour too.

the Bass and drums keep you in tempo.....you follow them

find the Key

find the mood of the song

and just do your thing...anything from power chords to bar chords to 7, 9, 13 chords
