You should try pinch harmonics on a bass, without a pick

Really though, Lots of practice. Also try different angles with your pick, don't be afraid to experiment. Alsong as it sounds good there is no wrong way to do it.

It's more to do with getting the pick in the right place. Try different places to pick the string. Closer to the pickup? Further away? On it?

i had trouble with this too, cause i play ibanez, and the action on all of my guitars is so little, that almost touching the string frets it, making harmonics really hard. but try plucking the string and quickly touching the string and doing the bend, that nelped me

I play in drop C as well, and i play with an extremely thick gauge because of
the fact the my guitar is a baritone guitar. So for me i find it hard to get a pinch
harmonic (clean one anyways) on the top string. Either way it comes with practice
and it comes with technique. Practice DOES in fact make perfect, you'll fail a million
times but when you succeed it feels that much better.

Just remember that there are a few sweet spots where you will be able to pinch more successfully, and other parts where it will be more difficult. Move your pick hand around if you can't seem to get it. Practice enough and it will come naturally.
