Duncans = Experienced musicians who value tone.

EMGS = Kids who just picked up a guitar and think they know anything about good heavy metal tonality.

If your just starting out, you won't be able to tell the difference tone-wise very much, but if you have trained ears like me, you'll know duncans are infinitely superior.

In fact, I've killed small children with my JB/Jazz equipped C-1+. They liked it though.

That statement is not entirely true. EMGs are actually good pickups if it's on a good guitar playing through an nice amp.

I mean, it IS true that they sound really bad clean wise, but I'm playing through a Peavey XXX and Boss ME-50, changing pretty much the entire clean setup and they sound not bad. We're also talking about a $1500~ guitar I'm playing.

Just my opinion.

well what i am getting is the LTD ESP FX-400.
They come stock with 81/60 and i've heard that the 60's are pretty much trash.
so i played around with the seymours on a jackson and rly enjoyed the tone that was produced from the pickups.
I am curious as to if i should invest the extra 200$ into the fx400 to install the seymours. i absolutely love the looks of the guitar but i dont want to ruin the sound quality (if i am sticking with emg's i believe i will trade the 60 for another 81)
i have the boss gt-8 and am currently looking into a mesa boogie trip rect. Although I would like some opinions on some cheaper tube amp alternatives.

So i went down to my music shop, and asked the guy if i could test an Ibanez with some Duncans on, and the guy just looked at me and said "Er... dude, there are like 150 types!"

Bugger lol. I need to do me some research!

i have seen some of your posts and i think you listen to alot of the artists i listen to.
Job for a cowboy, bullet for my valentine, oldschool ozzy etc. I LOVE pinch harmonics and when it comes to the clean parts i just need a happy medium sad.gif
lmk when you come around and do some experimenting with the duncans wink.gif
