No. Don't use FL studio, if you are serious about making electronica I suggest you don't use FL. Yeah it's easy to use but it won't get you anywhere.

You want to look into getting the following:

1. Pro Tools - This basically the program that well...professionals use to get everything together in one place. It is compatible via ReWire with almost every other major composition program out there. You can also find some nice plugins that are useful for synths and other instruments. Not so much drums though, there are better programs for your drum loops. You should start off by finding a large sample pack and just start piecing them together. Make a track for drums, synth, bass using those samples you find. You'll get the feel of things pretty quickly.Thing is with pro tools, you MUST have a piece of physical digidesign hardware. Go out and invest in a basic little midi controller (I reccomend the M-Audio Ozone) but make sure it's made by M-Audio or some other digidesign affiliated company.. You can download it if you look around wink.gif but you do have to have some hardware to run it.

2. Reason- You'll use this for whatever you want to really. Allows for more customization of the instruments / instrument sounds compared to pro tools. Comes with drum machines, synths, samplers, too much stuff to list really. Check it out, it's much easier to obtain then protools.

3. Logic - This is a bit like pro tools. Handy if you're on a mac, I've heard good things about it from quite a few people but I've personally never really used it. Also pretty easy to obtain.

4. Trackers biggrin.gif - Trackers are fun, it really depends on what kind of music style you're going for but if you're looking for a chiptune / electrothrash kind of thing these will help. They may look confusing at first but play around and read the help file. They come with a ton of vst instruments and effects just cool stuff in general. Extremely easy to obtain, they're often free.

(Note: I'm just giving a small summary of a couple good programs to look at / start using. I'm sure they all have capabilities I haven't mentioned so don't attack me if I forgot to mention your favorite plugin or feature..or if you prefer one program to the other..)

If you can get your hands on pro tools and with the Xpand! plug in, and a copy of reason, then you'll be a happy guy guaranteed.

But if not try using Reason alone, it's a little confusing at first but read some tutorials and you'll get the hang of it.

And my favorite...well I kind of use all of them together, they each have something I like about them that the others don't.

I see, right now the music/DJ softwares I use is DSS DJ 5 -- Virtual DJ -- FL Studios 8 (In progress, still downloading) -- Audacity -- and Magix Music Maker 14 tongue.gif
