Try out a few at a local music store. Find one that feels comfortable. You also want to pay attention to pickups (Single Coils, Humbuckers, etc...) based on the sound you want to get. Odd shaped guitars (Vs, Explorers, etc...) are probably not the best choice for a started guitar.
