People who say emg's have great tone are one of the following :

Nu metal kids
Wanna sound like the other 1000000 bands that use them
Don't play on the clean channel. Ever. Or don't know what a good clean tone sounds like

No offense or anything.

no point in playing clean Rick. this is metal xD

And EMG 81's are not nu metal pickups.

The argument over Seymour Duncan's VS EMG's is strictly based upon opinion.

Dethklok material is all played on EMG's.

Therefore EMG's ftw, hahaha.

Clean channels are for nu metal kids... and pussies.

I would actually go with high output passive pickups rather than EMG, you can play metal but i still think that you dont NEED EMGs. If you like the EMG tone then sure. But there are so many options. My personal favorite is a Duncan Super Distortion at the bridge and a Duncan Jazz for the neck.

You're absolutely right denying the necessity of an EMG pickup. I just happen to fully support the decision of purchasing a guitar with EMG's.

I personally prefer EMG's and was sharing my opinion about them.

false, false, false!!!

There are many better choices for heavy metal pickups. Seymour Duncan is one of the most popular brands for heavy pickups. Bareknuckle and Swineshead are some lesser known companies that make excellent pickups.

High output isn't all you are going to want out of a pickup. EMG pickups have really bad tone, whereas the pups I mentioned sound beautiful and/or brutal at your bidding.

Coming from a SD fan I suppose? It's all based on opinions. I'm playing a ESP M-II w/ EMGs and sorry but they sound fucking incredible. I never played with SD so I could not compare them though.

i've made up my mind with the Ltd fx-400

I'm wondering if i should get 81/81 or the 81/60 emg's though huh.gif
The guitar comes stock with 81-60 and i think for the metallica-like riffs and whatnot the 60 would be great for the rhythm.
i would like some feedback as to what i should do about the pickups between the 81 and the 60

IMO, there's no need to get 2 81s, go with the 81/60.

Dethklok is not something to back up an argument about it not being for nu-metal kids.

And as for the clean channels comment...wow, you're stupid.
