fender tube amps are my favorite. ive compared top my crate vintage 12 (nice but no fender). mesa boogie amps are amazing and amazingly over priced. as for guitars, i play nothing but les paul, sg, tele, strat. just buy american! its imprtant for the sound/failing american economy.

But it's not about the look, it's about what you can play. Look at Tony Iommi. He is the king of metal, and uses a Gibson

Schecter and ESP make some nice metal guitars.
