i agree neither is "easy" drums are hard to practice due to the noise. there are far more jokes about drummers than there are about guitar players for a reason. go guitar man!

iM GOING with the drums

I say drums, when the beat get into you can't go back, pratice different styles will help you getting originality, a pad with sticks will help you for sure but try to buy a rubber cover for your snare you get more feelings. The more *kind* of beat/percussions you try the more beats you'll learn, sometimes i find a nice drum beat when I play on my djembe O_o

But hey don't stop the guitar, a little bit of knowledge about the patterns/melody will help you understand the guitar/bass if you ever plan on jamming with peeps

How come you didn't list this in cons for drums?
Imo it's a very crucial factor, probably enough to make guitar a better option. (At least I think so, but it's all your choice of course)

However, the shortage of drummers, and the overload of guitarists...you've got a point there.

Think of this also:

Drums require A LOT more maintenance and care than guitars. First of all, tuning is a bitch until you get used to it. It's much harder than a guitar, because you don't get to plug into a tuner. Also, sticks can get expensive, and heads are even more expensive. And you'll eventually have to replace hardware, which is all overpriced.

Play guitar. I started on drums but changed to guitar after I started learning theory. Rhythm is cool but adding pitch is even cooler. You can also write music on a guitar (well you can also write music on drums but not with pitch!)
