I used to be a firm believer in active pickups, until I played on a BC Rich custom lefty with Dimebuckers and now that that's all I'll ever use. Especially if you like pinch harmonics, there isn't anything that comes close. Hell, if you had a nice enough noise gate, wire 'em active!

Really? From what everyone has told me the dimebucker is just like a duncan designed with a high and mid boost and a 100 something dollar price tag.

To the TS, i hope that you arent playing through a crappy amp. If you are, changing your pickups isnt going to do anything

Depends on the EMG

but 81/85's are a great set up for metal and any other music, the neck pickup is very bassy so its great for a bluesy clean or crunchy rock
