so i've been playing acoustic for a few years now, and i really want to treat myself this christmas/new years and upgrade my guitar

i'm currently just using an entry level one

my price ceiling is probably around like $600-700

i'm not sure if it matters what type of music i play, but i do a lot of finger picking and play a lot of dallas green-type music, also i prefer a really low action so barring is easier but i guess i can just get any guitar set up done for that

so if anyone could give me a general idea of some quality brands/models/etc, or just point me in the right direction <3

any help would be GREATLY appreciated, and i know that i need to go try a bunch of guitars to see what feels good to me but i really do need somewhere to start

merry christmas and happy holidays! :santa:

I love my Simon + Patrick. Canadian made guitar.
Only cost me 400 dollars but plays like its a 800 dollar guitar, really nice quality.

Not really sure. Just try them all when you go check them out :D

I don't know much about actual guitars, my friend who works with them took me when i went.
I went in with wanting good quality for a good price and a thick body.
Was able to get all three in my geetar.

It always comes down to how it feels for you though.

yeah i think i would want a lighter softer guitar, not quite sure though

because i play a lot of finger picking i really wanted to get a classical, but fuck it i want the versatility of an acoustic guitar

Yeah true, there is a LOT out there. I mostly play hard strumming campfire / drunken singing songs.

Ive always been a Gibson style person. However! Recently an article on Ultimate-guitar.com sold me on ....drum roll.... SQUIER!. What?! That dumpy 2nd rate brand? Yes - very much so.

Squier Classic Vibe 50's Stratocaster

For the money, it will certainly be hard to beat. Squier is a popular beginner brand that I am not much of a fan of but they really out did themselves with this model.

Read/Review
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/electric_guitars/squier/classic_vibe_50s_stratocaster/index.html?no_takeover

Demo

Go to guitar center. Play any squier on the wall. Then play THAT squier. Then play a real american fender strat. See what you think. I think you'll be impressed.

Save some money and try this ;)
Not a bad review out there.
