ok so im like 4 months into guitar now, and im looking for a good excersize. let me give an example

|
|
|
|____________5___5858 etc, all the way to fret 9 on the high e string then back down in that same kind of way
|___5___5858___8
|58___8

after I got to practicing this, i noticed an immediate overall improvement in all aspects of my playing, im just looking for some new excersizes to do that might really help my playing, because ive moved on from the learning guitar book into songs that i like, but it gets very boring playing the same songs over and over and waiting to get better at them. So if u can remember any good excersizes that really improved your playing back when you were 4 months into guitar, id really appreciate it. I would have posed this question to those people on the forum that regularly help me, but i thought to myself that there may be alot of people who have success with different things, and i may like to try them. Thanks in advance

Learn scales and all the places you can play the same scale on your guitar.

Then play them faster and faster.

Guitar magically becomes easy + you can now do solos.

A|--------------------------------1-2-3-4---------

Practice with a metronome. Don't break position (index on 1, middle on 2, ring on 3, pinky on 4). Do it faster. Do it in multiple positions. Do it backwards.

I'm not sure how far along you are, but learning the intro to Sweet Child O Mine worked wonders for my picking accuracy, basic string skipping and pinky dexterity when I was first starting off.

I tried to do these begginner lessons and stuff when i first started playing, but i felt no progress after months and months of doing them. I found that I really notice my improvement and knowledge the more I just jumped into learning songs. I started out playing things like Ballad of Curits Lowe, and Sweet Child O Mine, 2 years now, and I can blaze through Anyway You Want It, and only miss a few notes when burning through the solo.

Yes! I started a month ago, tried some basic lessons, and didn't feel much, if any progress. But my skill increased rapidly, as i just tried songs that i know.

There are a few dudes on youtube you could check out, MartySchwartz has some pretty good lessons on songs and technique, and a great guy a know named Teague Purtell does some awesome lessons on youtube. He is an absolutely amazing guitarist. His youtube is Tripfuse04. Hope maybe some of these guys vids can help you along.

Here is an exercise i made up and i find really improves coordination when playing
(Can play anywhere on the neck)
E--------------------7--8----------------------------
B--------------7----6----7-----8--------------------
G---------7---6---5-------6----7---8---------------
D---7---6---5--------------------6----7----8------
A--6---5--------------------------------6-----7----
E-5----------------------------------------------6--- ( than up a fret and continue the pattern)
