Consider what some of your favorite guitarists use, and what your price range/needed size is. That's a pretty broad request and asks more for what other people like in a broad/general field, not specifically finding what you need for yourself.

Fender Blues Junior
Fender Hotrod Deluxe
Pretty much any of the Jet City 20 watt series amps (head or 1x12 combo)

all of those are affordable amps that have great sound man

I have one of these

Chorus is nice, chorus delay is excellent, reverb is powerful, bass is strong - it's a good head! I run it through a Marshall AVT 4x12 Cab.

Zodijackyl - You should post up some gear pics in the thread dude! I have always wondered what you use

Check out blackheart's handsome devil if it's still around. 15 watt/7 watt, good drive, marshall-esque. I hated my fender super champ, and it's not full tube. pretty sure it has a ss rectifier, and the onboard effects are all digital. I can't remember if the pre-amp was tube or not, but I think it was.

If it was between the blues junior and the super champ, the blues junior would win every time, but I hate how blues juniors handle dirt pedals, and they sound flubby without some mods.

But I definitely recommend the handsome devil. It's the same price (or maybe $50 cheaper) as the blues junior.

Fender Vibro Champ XD is like a step down from the super vibro champ but it is great for a practice amp. I paid 225$ canadian and its a 5 watt tube amp. Comes with 16 different sounds like vintage hotrod and other. Also has reverb delay ect. i recomend thsi for a basic practise amp

Bob..Mg's suck and thats a soild state. Fender makes great amps for a bluesy player and good prices. I got some 2x12 Frontman from a friend and its great for a soild state. Also check into Vox's and Bogner's they got some good combo's ( You want a combo trust me)

Combo amps are ftw for value for money, and for ease of access.

And yes - the MG sucks in comparisson to practically everything priced £300 or higher - but it's excellent value for it's price. I got this head, slighty banged up condition for £70 and it's great, doing exactly what I want it to do.

Solid states sound passable at bedroom volumes, but they can't hold up in a band situation really, they just don't cut it sound wise, which is why I stick with my mesa :)

OP: you could also look at the Epiphone Valve JR stack or combos, and just throw a quality overdrive/distortion in front of it, they actually sound quite good.
